He spoke again like nothing was happening. That was just more confusing and I wanted to cry but everything was so fast I could barely understand enough to be sad. I was too scared and confused to even say anything besides "What's going on!?" To which he suddenly said "You are no longer alive." At that I froze in shock barely able to process what he said. Turning around a man dressed in all black flowing robes with a blank emotionless face was looking at me. Getting out of bed I didn't know what to do and screamed when I heard a man speak. When it passed through again I started freaking out and yelling at him but he didn't respond like he couldn't hear me at all. I immediately panicked and sat up reaching again. I rolled over and moved to touch his arm and found it just went through him. I dreamt that I had woken up in my bed next to my boyfriend. Still, the concept of Grim Reaper is a chilling reminder, and teaches us that the death can be just round the corner, crouching in wait for us.I go on about this because recently I had a very interesting dream! Well, 'The Life After Death' is well beyond the realm of physical world and no one has ventured back to tell us whether there is such an entity or not. The presence of this nightmarish entity has captured the imagination of storytellers, writers and artists. Later on these theories were dismissed and a skeletal figure became a manifestation of death. Some historians also claim that Odin who was also called Grimnir led to the conceptualization of the Grim Reaper. In Germanic folklore Odin, who rode on a nightmarish horse and wielded a spear had all the characteristics of the ones associated with the Grim Reaper. His assistants, Valkyries, escorted the dead warriors to their rightful place - a hall in heaven. Odin, who was considered the god in Norse paganism, was considered the leader of souls. Although, some historians depend on the Hades, others believe the entity is a manifestation of one's own belief. In ancient Greek mythology, Charon was such an entity, who carried the souls of the recently deceased in a ferry across the river that separated the world of the living from the dead. The Grim Reaper is considered this Psychopomp, who performs his duties of looking after souls of the dead. Many religions believe a particular spirit or deity is responsible to look after the souls after the death of a person. His skeletal face wears a grin to haunt a number of people all across the universe. While some believe that he arrives on an old coach drawn by white horses, others believe he arrives on a horse without coaches. The Grim Reaper escorts souls of the deceased to the unknown territory of life after death. The scythe that he wields symbolizes the weapon of the harvester or keeper of souls. The Grim Reaper, a diabolically dark figure has captured the imagination of many people around the world! Was he the answer, that the man found to his questions about the death and dying? This entity features in folklore and movies.
